It's one thing to transport a boat, or a couple of boats, from point A to point B. It becomes a brave new adventure to transport a total of twenty seven boats in large groups from two locations in Virginia to two new locations, one in Arizona and one in Florida. And, to complicate things even more, the boats absolutely could not be damaged during transport...because they had already been crashed - on purpose. When I explained to you that all of these boats were all part of a staged collision project, and are now used to train police officers in how to investigate and reconstruct recreational boating accidents, your fully understood the need to maintain them in their newly-pristine condition throughout the move. You didn't view this as a negative point; you viewed it as a challenge, as did your drivers. To add to all this potential stress, the logistics of dealing with all the pieces of the puzzle from long distance was, to say the least, a monumental accomplishment on your part. With me in Illinois, the national organization in Kentucky, the pick-up locations in Virginia, and the delivery locations in Arizona and Florida, I was pleased (but not at all surprised) that the logistics were coordinated with the precision of a fine watch. I know you have probably already had you deep sigh of relief and you probably want to shred any evidence of having dealt with us. July 15, 2011 Bob, I recommended you to a good friend Richard Roll a few years back when he needed to transport his newly acquired vessel from Florida to Seattle. November 06, 2010 Real testimony! My wife and I needed to transport a 40 foot vessel with a wide beam from Racine, Wisconsin to St. Augustine, Florida. After quoting with many boat transport companies we received a final one one from Boat Express. We received the best quote from Boat Express. We had to transfer a boat in the past and had nothing but headaches. Well, we have to say that when it comes to service oriented and fast safe delivery hassle free of your vessel there is no one better than Boat Express!! Jeff, the boat arrived this morning right on schedule (actually a bit Earlier than his estimate). Everything looked fine. Don, the driver, had Even added straps to better secure the boat for the long haul. We unloaded With far less hassle than the load in Florida {grin} and the boat is now Sitting in my driveway, waiting for the shrink-wrap to be taken off and Parts to be reassembled. I paid Don in cash and he wrote "Paid" on the paperwork. There was some Question about the amount - your email and the wording at the top of the Form said $2890 but lower on the paperwork there was a higher figure that Don believed was accurate. I gave him a little extra at the start and Intended to give him a bit more at the end, so I just rounded up to $3000 Today. But for future shipments it might be nice to avoid the confusion. In my opinion, Don is a great driver. I recommend maintaining a Relationship with him. I would use him again without hesitation. Also, YOU folks are wonderful. Everything in your control went smoothly and As promised. I was especially thrilled that the two of you showed up in person last Friday... that was unnecessary but with the MarineMax hoist Problems it turned out to be a deal-saver. Imagine how things might have gone if the only two people standing there at MarineMax had been the boat Dealer and the truck driver. I suspect the entire shipment would have Unraveled and we'd still be trying to figure out a solution. Instead, a little delay and we were back on track. My heartfelt thanks! May 06, 2010 Hi Rich, I just wanted to let you know what a great job your drivers did for me on my ‘simple’ boat haul. As you know, the brand new trailer had not been assembled correctly, and after 100 miles of the 300 mile trip, one axel had moved far enough to cause a tire to rub on a fender bolt. To make a long story short, Jay and his co-driver worked for 4 hours fixing the problem to the point that they could safely drive it the final 200 miles, which they did. Words cannot describe how happy we were with his extreme care and great customer service. --------------------------- Dear Bob, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the professionalism and hard work on the part of Boats Express to safely transport our Cape Dory 36 from Texas to North Carolina. This was probably not one of your routine moves loading a 16,000 lb sail boat from inside a metal shed on an RV storage lot to my back yard in a residential neighborhood! Your skill and willingness to work with my tight timeline and logistical requirements—I needed to fly to Texas to coordinate the dismantling of the shed and be there when the crane loaded my boat and then get back to North Carolina to prep for the offload four days later—were superb. The driver, Rick Phillips, was fantastic and displayed the utmost in professionalism. Despite the lack of a travel lift (on both ends) and crane operators that had little experience lifting a sailboat, or maneuvering his rig in our cul-de-sac and backing down the side of our house, he never lost his cool or can-do attitude. To get the best price of the dozen boat transport companies I called and first class service as well is a testimony to the value and professionalism of Boats Express. June 26, 2008 You guys are my haulers for life! When I recently needed to move Shaboom, a Westsail 32, from Florida to D.C., I contacted local haulers for quotes. Few fit my budget and time restraints. I went online and searched a bit more but what I found was that despite grand customer service advertising most had lots of fine print about scheduling, pickups, drop offs, etc. I’ve had boats moved long distances before and I knew it didn’t have to be that difficult. Through a stroke of luck I came across Lt.Col .Bob Queen and Boats Express/Specialty Shipping. Gone were the caveats that made me feel like I was doing the hauler a favor! Bob simply asked when I wanted it picked up and where I wanted it delivered! I waited for the other shoe to drop, but it never happened. I signed up and Bob made the arrangements. As the pickup date crept closer, there was a glitch in the hauler’s schedule that made the original haul date unworkable. The new date meant that I would be on the hook for additional storage costs in Florida. Instead of getting the expected shrug, Bob offered to rework the estimate to minimize the impact to my wallet. When Shaboom arrived at her new home she was just as I’d left her in Florida. The driver did a great job in transporting her up. I couldn’t help notice that the random bracket was taped on two of the four mounting bolts, which wasn’t the way I’d left it when I’d prepped the mast for shipping. Apparently, they had worked loose during the run. The driver told me he knew from experience that problems could arise if it had been left that way, so he took the time to remedy the situation. He could have just as easily carried the mast as it was with no thought to something as detailed as that. I highly recommend Boats Express for any hauling needs. When I got dumped for no reason my another boat hauler on the day of travel because he re-routed a driver to an easier pick up the next day that did require a permit load, over height and a low rig, and all that, I thought I was sunk. April 09, 2009 Dear Bob, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the professionalism and hard work on the part of Boats Express to safely transport our Cape Dory 36 from Texas to North Carolina. This was probably not one of your routine moves loading a 16,000 lb sail boat from inside a metal shed on an RV storage lot to my back yard in a residential neighborhood! Your skill and willingness to work with my tight timeline and logistical requirements—I needed to fly to Texas to coordinate the dismantling of the shed and be there when the crane loaded my boat and then get back to North Carolina to prep for the offload four days later—were superb. The driver, Rick Phillips, was fantastic and displayed the utmost in professionalism. Despite the lack of a travel lift (on both ends) and crane operators that had little experience lifting a sailboat, or maneuvering his rig in our cul-de-sac and backing down the side of our house, he never lost his cool or can-do attitude. To get the best price of the dozen boat transport companies I called and first class service as well is a testimony to the value and professionalism of Boats Express. --------------------------- June 26, 2008 You guys are my haulers for life! When I recently needed to move Shaboom, a Westsail 32, from Florida to D.C., I contacted local haulers for quotes. Few fit my budget and time restraints. I went online and searched a bit more but what I found was that despite grand customer service advertising most had lots of fine print about scheduling, pickups, drop offs, etc. I’ve had boats moved long distances before and I knew it didn’t have to be that difficult. Through a stroke of luck I came across Lt.Col .Bob Queen and Boats Express/Specialty Shipping. Gone were the caveats that made me feel like I was doing the hauler a favor! Bob simply asked when I wanted it picked up and where I wanted it delivered! I waited for the other shoe to drop, but it never happened. I signed up and Bob made the arrangements. As the pickup date crept closer, there was a glitch in the hauler’s schedule that made the original haul date unworkable. The new date meant that I would be on the hook for additional storage costs in Florida. Instead of getting the expected shrug, Bob offered to rework the estimate to minimize the impact to my wallet. When Shaboom arrived at her new home she was just as I’d left her in Florida. The driver did a great job in transporting her up. I couldn’t help notice that the random bracket was taped on two of the four mounting bolts, which wasn’t the way I’d left it when I’d prepped the mast for shipping. Apparently, they had worked loose during the run. The driver told me he knew from experience that problems could arise if it had been left that way, so he took the time to remedy the situation. He could have just as easily carried the mast as it was with no thought to something as detailed as that. I highly recommend Boats Express for any hauling needs. And, if you’re fortunate enough to get the Colonel on the line, don’t let him go!
